Roland Schimmelpfennig’s extraordinary play is a maze-like polyvocal take on the myth of the Cretan king Idomeneus, who became trapped in a storm on the way home from Troy and promised to sacrifice the first living thing he met on his return home. Unfortunately this was his son..however, the rest is not history but a whirling, obsessive, sometimes tragic, sometimes exhilarating rewriting of the story from mutliple angles again and again…
